The Termignoni slip on silencer for the new Yamaha YZF R1 is made in carbon and titanium cuNb, the same used by the Termignoni Reparto Corse on their racing exhausts. CuNb is a special titanium alloy that has excellent formability in ambient temperature and high mechanical strength even after the 600 °C and resists oxidation above 800 °C. This allows Termignoni to reduce significantly the weight, while still providing a high level of performance and durability, much higher than of the systems made of a commercial titanium alloy. The silencer, available in carbon or titanium sleeve, is homologated and characterized by a dedicated new design. Connected to the optional cat eliminator (Code Y106CF000T), this system offers performance gains throughout the range and an increase of power of 4 HP at 13,800 RPM.
