Nemesis-TCS kit for Yamaha YZF-R1 & YZF-R6
For several years now a professional and well-developed traction control system for motorbikes has only been available to those with larger budgets or a top-level superbike team behind them. All of this has now changed!
Using knowledge gained while working at the highest levels of bike sport we have created a programmable aftermarket 'plug n play' Traction Control System with fully developed TC maps. All you need to do is plug it in and ride.
This kit is designed specifically for installation the Yamaha YZF-R1 and will be supplied with an appropriate slip map to suit your tyre and wheel size choice. Unlike other systems we don’t expect you to fabricate anything or learn how to re-wire your bike, when we say ‘plug n play’ and ‘kit form’ we mean it.
Here is what you will get with the Nemesis-TCS kit for the R1
- Nemesis-TCS module for 4 cylinder application
- Nemesis Coil Interface Module
- Dedicated mounting bracket with anti vibration mounts for installation on the rear subframe
- TC-Pod rider display module with mounting bracket
- Remote handlebar mounted push buttons for 'Traction-UP' and 'Traction-Down'
- Modified front left brake disc mounting bolts for optimum speed signal pickup
- Machined aluminium front speed sensor mounting and wheel spacer assembly
- Dedicated wiring looms for quick connection to your existing bike electrics

Additional programming kit:
Not all users need the ability to access their Nemesis-TCS via a PC, most will be happy to use the settings applied by the dealers. But for those who want this kind of access we offer the WinTC application software and a dedicated WinTC-USB interface
Using the WinTC application you are able to manipulate all of the following as well as reading internal sensor values:
- Throttle calibration
- Front and rear speed calibration and trigger tooth quantity
- Pit lane speed limit
- Quick shifter settings
Once the system is setup there is no need to own the WinTC-USB interface, nor is there need to have an interface for each kit when a user has multiple bikes with the TCS system. Dealers who set the system up for their users only need one of these tools so it makes no sense to add this cost to the kit for everybody.
Wheelies
What is ‘Virtual front speed’ ?
Unlike cars, bikes pull wheelies and when this happens the front wheel speed can no longer be trusted for evaluating slip.
The Nemesis-TCS uses internal sensors and clever ‘real time’ mathematics to identify the start of a wheelie and then use other sensors to create a whole new ‘virtual front speed’ as a comparator of slip all the time the normal front wheel is in the air.
The end of a wheelie is also clearly identified by these sensors and the front wheel is then re-used for slip calculation once it has fully caught up with normal road speed again. View the image below to help you understand this.

Does the Nemesis-TCS have wheelie control?
Our experience has shown that trying to keep the front wheel on the ground is entirely possible but typically it makes the bike slower. Riders instinctively move their weight forward to counteract the rising front wheel, if the wheel is kept down electronically, the rider does not feel the need to move forward which results in the bike accelerating more slowly.
The Nemesis-TCS system gets around this by applying a small power reduction in the early stages of a wheelie to reduce the upward momentum, after this the power is returned to normal in order to drive the bike forward. This is a similar response to the rider rolling back the throttle if the front wheel came up agressively.
This power reduction only occurs in the lower gears such as 1st and second, and also is more evident if slip maps 6 and above are used.
